Racking and tracker steel is bought to print: your drawings set the section, the hole pattern and the coating, and every part has to match them, release after release. We make those parts for racking and tracker suppliers, solar EPCs and steel package suppliers that buy piles, profiles and hardware in volume from outside fabricators.
Send the drawing package with its revision. Our estimating team reviews every request and returns an itemized quote, part by part, and before release we confirm sections, hole patterns, coatings and quantities against the revision you sent.
Racking and tracker parts we make to your drawings
Roll-formed piles
C-piles, U-piles and sigma piles, perforated or non-perforated, with hole patterns punched inline and each pile cut to length.
Purlins and hat/omega rails
C-purlins, Z-purlins and hat/omega rails for racking and module mounting, pre-punched, slotted and cut to length inline.
Laser-cut brackets and plates
Tracker and racking brackets, clamps, splice plates, pile caps and connection plates, cut on a 20 kW fiber laser.
Press-brake-formed parts
Brackets, angles and channels bent on CNC press brakes, up to 26 ft long and up to 1 in. thick depending on bend length and grade.
W-Beam piles
Hot-rolled W-Beam piles in A572 Grade 50 or A992, cut to length, with laser-cut or milled slots and punched hole patterns.
One purchase order
Piles, profiles and the hardware that connects them, quoted, coated and shipped together and labeled by part number.
Roll-formed profiles run from 20 gauge to ¼ in. thick, in standard or custom geometry; the maximum for a given section depends on its geometry and steel grade, so we confirm it before quoting. To match a profile you already buy, send its drawing, a sample or a photo with key dimensions.
Typical parts, processes and what to send
Each part is quoted from its own drawing. The table shows the usual route for the parts in a racking or tracker package and what each drawing needs to carry, so the quote comes back without a round of questions.
| Part | Typical process | What to send |
|---|---|---|
| C-piles and U-piles | Roll-formed, with holes and slots punched inline and each pile cut to length | Pile drawing with section, length and hole pattern; quantity by pile type |
| Sigma piles | Roll-formed, punched and cut to length inline | Section drawing with decimal thickness, hole pattern and lengths |
| W-Beam piles | Hot-rolled W-Beam cut to length, with laser-cut or milled slots and punched holes | Pile drawing with W-Beam size, grade, length and slot pattern |
| C-purlins and Z-purlins | Roll-formed, pre-punched and cut to length inline | Profile drawing, decimal thickness, grade, hole pattern and each length with its piece count |
| Hat/omega rails | Roll-formed, with slots and holes punched inline | Profile drawing, slot pattern and lengths |
| Brackets and clamps | Laser-cut, then bent on the press brake where the drawing shows bends | DXF or STEP with revision, material, thickness and bend details |
| Pile caps | Laser-cut plate, bent on the press brake where the cap has bends | Drawing or STEP with the pile section it fits, hole pattern, material and thickness |
| Splice plates and connection plates | Laser-cut from sheet or plate | DXF with hole sizes and locations, material and thickness |
Typical routes, not limits: your drawing and quantities decide the process for each part, and the quote confirms it.

Coatings for solar racking and tracker steel
Your drawing or the project specification sets the coating, usually from the soil corrosivity data in the geotechnical report and the design life of the project. Each part on an order can take its own coating, and galvanizing for laser-cut and formed parts is coordinated on the same purchase order.
| Coating | When it goes on | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-galvanized G90 (ASTM A653) | On the coil, before forming, punching and cutting | 0.90 oz of zinc per square foot of sheet, both sides combined; cut ends and punched holes are bare edges |
| Hot-dip galvanizing (ASTM A123) | After fabrication, once parts are formed, punched and cut | Every surface, edges and holes included, at the coating thickness the specification calls for |
| Zinc-magnesium | On the coil, before forming, like G90 | Both faces of the sheet; as with G90, cut ends and punched holes are bare edges |
As a general rule, thermally cut edges, laser-cut edges included, are harder than the rest of the part, and a hot-dip galvanized coating can come out thin or flake on them, so on parts galvanized after cutting the edges can be prepared before the steel goes to the galvanizer. Tell us the coating with your drawings so the quote covers that preparation.
Documents with every release
Every order ships with mill test reports (MTRs) and heat-number traceability, plus galvanizing certificates where coatings apply. Racking and tracker suppliers pass these on to the EPC and the project owner, so they have to match the steel that arrives.
Parts and bundles are labeled by part number to match your drawings, so receiving can check a delivery against the drawing and its documents. Put any other document requirements in your request, so the quote covers them.
Deliveries staged by block, phase or row
A utility-scale array goes in block by block, and the steel should arrive the same way. We stage releases by block, phase or row to your install sequence, and bundle and label each one to match your drawings, by part number, pile type, length and block, so crews pull only what the next rows need.
Releases go to your yard or to the project site. We deliver across California and ship to Texas, Arizona, Nevada and projects nationwide, quoted per load.
Built for volume programs
Racking and tracker steel repeats: the same piles, rails and brackets, block after block and project after project. That is the work we’re set up for: production runs and repeat releases of roll-formed profiles that run into thousands of linear feet, and production laser releases and nested kits of the brackets and plates that go with them.
Longer runs bring the cost per foot down, because setup is spread across more feet of profile, and on laser-cut parts unit pricing improves as quantity increases because setup and nesting costs are spread across more parts. Send the quantity per release and the expected annual volume, so the quote covers the release in hand and the program behind it. We also quote smaller orders when we can help.
- Step 01
Drawing review
Sections, holes, coatings and quantities checked against your revision before release.
- Step 02
First articles
New profiles get tooling designed and first articles made for your fit-up check.
- Step 03
Production runs
Profiles punched and cut to length inline; hardware cut on the fiber laser and bent.
- Step 04
Repeat releases
The same drawings and files produce the same parts, release after release.
What to send for a quote
A complete package gets a firm, itemized quote with fewer questions back. Send:
- Drawings with their revision: pile and profile drawings, and DXF, DWG or STEP files for laser-cut and formed parts
- Hole and slot patterns, with sizes and locations
- Steel grade, decimal thickness and coating for each part
- Quantities per release by part number, and the expected annual volume
- Delivery ZIP codes, and how releases are staged: by block, phase or row
- The schedule: the first need-by date and how often releases ship
- Bundle labeling, and the documents your QA/QC records need
Send your drawing package Roll-formed profile RFQ checklist DXF prep checklist
Who owns the design
The racking or tracker supplier, or the project’s engineer of record, owns the design: the sections, grades, coatings, hole patterns and connection details. We build to the drawing and the revision you send.
We check geometry and hole sizes for manufacturability and raise questions before release instead of guessing, and any change we suggest goes back to your engineer for approval. Mona Steel LLC doesn’t provide stamped structural engineering or sealed connection design, and doesn’t erect or install steel.
Racking & Tracker Parts FAQ
Can you build solar racking and tracker parts to print?
Yes. Mona Steel LLC, headquartered in Anaheim, California, builds solar racking and tracker steel to the customer’s drawings: roll-formed C-piles, U-piles and sigma piles, C-purlins, Z-purlins and hat (omega) rails, and laser-cut and press-brake-formed brackets, clamps, splice plates, pile caps and connection plates. Send the drawing package with its revision; we confirm sections, hole patterns, coatings and quantities before release.
Do you fabricate solar tracker brackets and pile caps?
Yes. Tracker and racking brackets, clamps, pile caps, splice plates and connection plates are cut on a 20 kW fiber laser from your DXF, DWG or STEP files and bent on CNC press brakes where the drawing has bends, up to 26 ft long and up to 1 in. thick depending on bend length and grade. They ship with the piles and profiles on one purchase order, labeled by part number.
Can you roll-form hat channel rails for solar racking?
Yes. We roll-form hat (omega) rails, C-purlins and Z-purlins from 20 gauge to ¼ in., in standard or custom geometry, with holes and slots punched inline and every piece cut to length. To match a rail you already buy, send its drawing, a sample or a photo with key dimensions. The maximum thickness for a given section depends on its geometry and steel grade, so we confirm it before quoting.
Can you second-source parts we already buy from another fabricator?
Yes. We quote build-to-print parts from the same drawings and revision your current supplier works to. For a roll-formed profile, we design the tooling and produce first articles for your fit-up check before production runs start; laser-cut parts are cut from your DXF or STEP files. Send the drawings with quantities per release and the expected annual volume.
Can piles, rails and brackets on one order have different coatings?
Yes. Each part takes the coating its drawing calls for, for example rails formed from G90 pre-galvanized sheet, and piles and brackets hot-dip galvanized after fabrication per ASTM A123. Coatings are coordinated on the same purchase order, and galvanizing certificates come with the parts they cover.
How do you stage deliveries on a large solar project?
By block, phase or row, in the order your crews install. Each release is bundled and labeled to match your drawings, by part number, pile type, length and block, and ships with its mill test reports. We deliver across California and ship to Texas, Arizona, Nevada and projects nationwide, quoted per load.
What do you need to quote racking and tracker parts?
The drawings with their revision, hole and slot patterns, steel grade, decimal thickness and coating, quantities per release by part number with the expected annual volume, delivery ZIP codes and the schedule. Our estimating team reviews every request and comes back with an itemized quote.
Who is responsible for the design of build-to-print parts?
The racking or tracker supplier, or the project’s engineer of record. We build to the drawing, check geometry and hole sizes for manufacturability and raise questions before release; any change we suggest goes back to your engineer for approval. Mona Steel LLC doesn’t provide stamped structural engineering or sealed connection design, and doesn’t erect or install steel.
