Why choose ground screws?

  • No concrete, no cure time.

Structures can be mounted the same day the screws go in.

  • Lower labor cost.

    Compact equipment and small crews.

  • Minimal site disturbance.

Little excavation, no spoils and easy removal at end of life.

  • Works on uneven terrain.

Adjustable heights reduce grading on sloped sites.

Sizes & options

Diameters, lengths and thread profiles are matched to soil conditions and project loads, with flange, U-head and threaded-top connections for racking and structural attachments.

Applications

  • Ground-mount solar arrays, from residential to utility scale
  • Agrivoltaic and community solar installations
  • Fencing, signage and lighting foundations
  • Decks, modular buildings and light structures

Note

Testing matters. For every project, we recommend on-site pull-out and lateral load testing to confirm screw size and embedment depth for your specific soil conditions.

Ground Screws FAQ

Are ground screws as strong as concrete foundations?

When properly sized for the soil and verified with on-site pull-out and lateral load testing, ground screws provide reliable foundations for solar arrays and light structures. The engineer of record should confirm the design based on geotechnical data.

What soils are ground screws suitable for?

Ground screws work in a wide range of soil conditions. Very rocky or cemented soils may require pre-drilling. On-site testing is the best way to confirm performance.

How are ground screws protected against corrosion?

Our ground screws are hot-dip galvanized to protect the steel against corrosion for long-term performance in the ground.

Can ground screws be removed?

Yes. One advantage of ground screws is that they can be unscrewed at end of life or when a site is reconfigured, leaving minimal disturbance compared to concrete.
